Until Ryu came along with that dreaded dragon punch, this large and scarred Thai fighter was the reigning Street Fighter champ. Creating his own unique dragon punch, Sagat put it to the test against the powerful waterfall. During this time, M. Bison approached him with the idea of revenge on Ryu. Deciding to side with M. Bison, Sagat awaited his chance to regain his title from Ryu - which happened by chance on the street. The match of power was close, but Ryu threw the fight to help Sagat and his damaged ego. As Ryu faded into the sunset, he muttered something about the "meaning of the fight".
