Exclusives and variants and specials! Oh my!

Love them or hate them, special exclusive figures have become an integral part of the modern action figure scene. You might be wondering why companies do these types of figures. Well, the reasons are as numerous as the number of variants themselves.

Here at ReSaurus, we often have ideas that we think are too cool to just leave alone. Many times, these ideas don't fit into the standard line plan for our action figures. So we are left we just a couple of choices. We can't forget about these ideas (but we don't want to). Or we can look for alternate ways to get these figures made.

That's where exclusive figures come into play. Let's face it, lot's of retailers and distributors love to have an item that is exclusive to them. It's a very appealing idea to them for any number of reasons (which you can probably guess and I won't bore you with here).

Our special figures can take several forms. Occasionally, we have a newly sculpted figure that needs a good home with a retailer. Other times, we will add to or modify an existing sculpt to create a significantly different figure. And still at other times, we think of ways that we can redecorate an existing figure in a way that we think would be really cool.

Believe it or not, some of our ideas are inspired by what the fans tell us they want. We try to listen for trends and then examine the figures that we have that could be used to fulfill these types of consumer desires.

This year, ReSaurus will be launching its own Collectors Club. We will be seeking input from the fans as we develop this idea. We would like to take the best ideas and incorporate them into a program that you, the fan, can support and enjoy. Of course, one of the centerpieces of the Collectors Club will be the ability to purchase exclusive, special figures. We're brimming with ideas and we think you will enjoy the types of things we have in mind.

We realize that not every special figure appeals to every collector. This is especially true for us because our products are so diverse. So our challenge is to devise a program that can be open to everyone while still having the freedom to cater to widely different groups of collectors. With your help, we will give it our all to achieve this goal.

On this page, you can see a few of the ideas that we have for possible exclusive figures. Final determination on where these figures will be available has not been determined in all cases. Just stay tuned to our web site and we will give you all the information you need on getting these items.

And in the coming months, look for more special figures from your favorite lines such as Duke Nukem and Quake. This stuff is going to kick butt so be sure to check back often so you don't miss a minute of the action! Our Toy Fair coverage is beginning to wind down. We have a few more things to show you and hope you have enjoyed these past two weeks of official coverage.
